COACHES & OFFICIALS
In our preparations for season 2020, we are seeking players to train with the club from April 2019. We have a no experience necessary policy, so we encourage everyone to register their interest with the club. Training sessions will vary subject to the availability of green space across multiple locations across our region.
We are seeking coaches, trainers, runners and medical support staff to assist with player management and game day preparations. We are also seeking general support staff who can assist with the day-to-day operations of the Football Club including recruitment and other administrative duties.
Want your business spread across Ontario while supporting the community? We are currently seeking businesses who want to be part of this exciting venture, but also have visibility through various media platforms including sponsorship on our playing kit, boundary signage, social media posts and website banners.
Australian Rules Football, or simply called Aussie Rules, is a sport played between two teams of 22 players on an oval-shaped field. The game features frequent physical contests, spectacular marking, fast movement of the ball and high scoring.
During general play, 18 players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, hand balling and running with the ball, but throwing the ball is not allowed.
Players must not get caught holding the ball in possession. Players can tackle using their hands or upper body to obstruct their opponent.
Possession of the ball is in dispute at all times except when a free kick or mark is paid. A distinctive feature of the game is the mark, where players anywhere on the field who catch the ball from a kick are awarded possession.
Dangerous physical contact are discouraged with free kicks, penalties or a game suspension, depending on the seriousness of the infringement.
A game of Australian Rules football is divided into 4 quarters of 20 minutes. The timer only stops when the football goes out of bounds, serious injuries afield and when the football is returned to the centre of the field after a goal is scored.
A goal is scored by kicking the football between the two middle posts (6 points), or 1 point to the left or right of the middle posts.
